Chicken Sunday

>> Sunday, September 10, 2017

Every Sunday, I make it a point to cook Filipino dishes because I miss eating them. I had been craving for Halang2x and the perfect Adobo, so I made some today.

However, both Chicken Recipes required me to take off the skin before cooking. I had been doing this for many years already, but when I came here, I find that even if you take off the skin, the chicken still releases its natural oils. Meaning, there is fat in between the meat.. If I buy their free range chicken, the meat is gummy and difficult to cook. It takes so much time and energy to cook and eat it. So I vowed to buy the easy chicken.

For my 9000 MMK, I bought two huge chickens without wings, as that is how they sell their whole chicken here, no wings :-). For this batch, saved the first layer breast meat, and divided the chickens according to my recipe. The saved meat shall be for my pasta this week. The rib cage and all unconventional parts went to the Halang2x, while the thigh and drumstick as well as the second layer breast meat went to my adobo.. Portion control at best.. And I am eating them without rice..

Unconventional Leche Flan

>> Friday, September 8, 2017

So I am far away from home, on a diet, but is craving for something I could not buy here. Bought myself the ingredients, and voila.

I think what is really amazing about being a Filipino is that, we can easily find ways, no matter the circumstance, and especially when there is a great need or want.. I have no lanyera for my Leche Flan.. I only have foil, and reusable cans of condensed milk, lol..

They came out okay, and yummy.. Craving satisfied.. I will share the rest to whoever I meet tomorrow..
