Broiled Pata

>> Thursday, December 31, 2015

This was our experimental recipe. We were supposed to make something else, but we ended up with broiling the pata..

Took us quite a while before we could cook this properly..

We ended up with a half cooked pata..

We had to slice bit by bit and broiled each by batch.. Lesson learned, we have to choose a smaller pata or use a bigger broiler..

Rizal Day S'mores Pudding

>> Wednesday, December 30, 2015

Done with our Christmas celebration, and looking forward for the New Year.. but today is another Holiday in itself. No work, so everyone is at home. And the kids wanted something with Chocolates and Marshmallows..

But I want something that they could eat that's beyond sweet. So I decided to make them something better, with milk..

Used 3/4 bar of Selbourne Dark Chocolate, and some Pandesal from Balolong..

Melted the Chocolate bar with the milk..

Added the Pandesal..

Making sure that every bit and morsel gets coated with the mixture..

And of course, the very colorful semi-sweet marshmallows too..

Folded the marshmallows to the mix, in low heat, until they have slightly melted..

When done, the pudding was placed in the serving dish.. to cool.. and garnished with peanuts on top..

After 10-15 minutes in the refrigerator.. the kids enjoyed their Rizal Day S'mores Pudding...

I am happy they loved it.. so did my father.. hahahaha.. kids at heart, there are many of us at home.

Today's Lunch.. Old and New..

>> Monday, December 28, 2015

What to do with Christmas Noche Buena leftover? Well, we've already done so many varied menus and recipes from our simple Noche Buena, and it's already 3 days after.. hahaha.. We could not just throw away everything or feed them to the dogs..

So my mom recreated the Lechon, the fish (which have already been recycled to fish omelette) and all others into an amazing Pansit dish.. Add some carrots and a whole new dish.. yummy..

For something refreshing, this Tuna Ceviche or Kinilaw na Barilis was also on the table.. Ahhh.. Can't resist..

Lechon Paksiw ala Dharlz

>> Saturday, December 26, 2015

Having a whole Lechon entails having lots of left over Lechon, hehehehe.. We already did so many recipes with it, but we still got remaining left overs to be experimented on.. We can do Sinigang, and all other recipes to add the Lechon to..

But I prefer Lechon Paksiw, still.. And this time, it's my recipe. Well, it's not really my regular recipe. I used the native vinegar still, but I added soy sauce, and two cloves of crushed garlic.. some bay leaf, and lots of ground white pepper..

I got good reviews.. and this is what they are having for dinner now.. hahaha.. I'll just have some tea.. Ahh.. which reminds me, I still need to help my little girl with her assignment.. What is innovative percussion? Time for some research.. so bye for now..

Christmas Noche Buena 2015

>> Thursday, December 24, 2015

It's thirty minutes before Christmas. And we have been ready since twelve noon.. hehehe.. Well, actually, it's the gifts for the annual exchange gifts that were ready since dawn today. It was quite a trip to the malls and everywhere we could get the gifts from. It was quite difficult though, because we had to made do with a meager budget this year.

But, everything had been ready, and sure to make everyone happy, especially the kids. Since morning, we prepared for our very simple Noche Buena. Although, there is Lechon, but we were actually preparing just a simple menu.

My sister prepared the filling, but I did the wrapping and the frying of the Lumpia.. And the best thing about this is that, I used Canola Oil to fry them.. Healthier option amidst the unhealthy food blunder, hahahaha..

My sister Sweet prepared the Chicken Macaroni Salad.. I only helped with the Chicken..

My mom prepared the Roasted Fish.. All juicy and yummy.. This is healthy.. hehehe..

My mom's friend sold us this layer of Chocolate Cake, which I do not really recommend because it tastes bitter and there were bits of clumped baking soda..

But this Roasted Chicken is to die for.. This has been marinated more than 24 hours, and roasted just in time for the Lechon to arrive..

Now, this Lechon was not planned. We did not buy this. My father's gift from his mechanic friend who he allowed to stay at our land in Balulang, without rent for so many years now..

Along with the Lechon are fruits and vegetables that they planted there.. Bananas, Papayas, and many others. Roughly, the Lechon could cost P 5,000 to P 6,000 if bought from Lechon sellers.. That is something to be thankful for apart from good health and many other blessings...

In a couple more minutes, it's gonna be Christmas.. From my family to yours, have a blessed one..

As Requested..

So it's just me and the two little kitties.. and they wanted to eat Balolong's Garlic Pandesal. They even volunteered to buy them at the nearby branch..

So right now, at this very moment, they are both eating them together with a very cold Apple flavored Iced Tea..

Noche Buena Embutido

>> Tuesday, December 22, 2015

Last month, my sister made this yummy Embutido. For tomorrow, we are thinking of recreating this Embutido, and make it more festive, to add to our Noche Buena menu.

We could also add nuts and some carrots for added color and flavor.

Oh well, we'll see. What we are sure of doing today, in preparation for the Noche Buena tomorrow, is to marinate our meat for the meat dishes..

Home Made Pizza

>> Sunday, December 20, 2015

A few days ago, at the grocery, we found this..

Last Friday, I ordered our favorite Longganisa from Maam Bebs.. and so it's one of the toppings to today's home made pizza..

Forgot to buy the cheese, but since we had some at our store, so it's solved..

And thanks to Del Monte's Quick n Easy Pizza sauce, the sauce wasn't difficult to concoct.. But of course, making our own would also be good.. This one just saves us time..

Would you believe we cooked this on top the stove, on a griddle? And minutes later, inside a Turbo Broiler? hahaha.. Yup, we did..

Ready to slice.. yumm..

Dinner is served.. it's not burnt, the cheese just wasn't the quick melt type..
