Oh This Weather..

It has been pouring very hard here in our city. Another storm has entered the country and is currently in Mindanao right now. Our city is affected, but it's a good thing we are only having huge downpours and not the major effects of storms. Some places outside the city are already flooded. With this rainy weather, my father's gym equipment from the old house could not be transported yet. There are too many of them, exercise equipment for seniors, as well as for us "youngsters". The treadmill, since it is electronic and digital, I think, is no longer good because it was badly hit by TS Sendong in December last year. But all others, specially those that run on manual operation, are okay. They just need to be cleaned and oiled, and they're good to go.

Oh this weather is such a bad thing. The kids went to school with their hooded jackets and umbrella. That is such an uncomfortable way to go to school. We have doubled their Vitamin C because they are prone to catching colds at this weather.

Eat Your Vegetables!

>> Tuesday, July 24, 2012

Are your kids picky eaters? Well, we're on the same boat. My little brother is a picky eater and chooses what he puts in his mouth.

These are just two examples of vegetable dishes that we cook at home. Everyday, we make sure that our meals come with vegetable dishes for healthier bodies.

We are also teaching the kids the importance of eating vegetables. There are times that they resist, but most of the time, I am glad that they eat vegetables.

Multiply Goes To Cagayan de Oro City: Lunch With Multiply Staff and Top Merchants In CDO

>> Sunday, July 22, 2012

Last week, I was one of the bloggers invited by Multiply for a luncheon meeting. It was a meeting of Multiply staff, Multiply merchants and bloggers from Cagayan de Oro City Bloggers Inc. who are also members of Multiply.Com, active and still using the old Multiply set-up.

It was a very good meeting, in the sense that I feel empowered to know that some of Multiply's top merchants are actually from Cagayan de Oro City. Two of the ladies in photo are selling their items at Multiply, and guess what? They are just two of the top merchants invited to have lunch with us. The lady in white is even younger than most of us in the room, and have been earning quite well in her multiply business.

I love how friendly the staff at Multiply are. The three of them explained to us how Multiply works, and encouraged us to support local merchants bu shopping at Multiply. At the same time, we were also encouraged to open our shops to sell. It got me thinking to sell too. Imagine, the new Multiply interface is much easier to navigate and safer than my usual alternative shopping site, Ebay..

Anyway, while Multiply staff were discussing, waiters at Siam Restaurant in Lim Ket Kai Mall continuously served separate platters of yummy dishes which we had during our lunch meeting. That deep fried fish above with the yummy topping of green mangoes and peanuts mixed in its sauce.

The unforgettable Pad Thai. and the Green Curry that made me forget my name, lol.. Well, actually, I forgot to ask its name, hahaha..

The Thai fried rice...

And the refreshing tropical drink that leaves a pleasant taste that lingers in the mouth..

And when everything is done, photo ops followed...

I had myself pose with one of Cagayan de Oro's top Multiply merchant, Boobie.

I was told that she makes the best Chocolate cake.. and she sells made to order cakes in her Multiply shop (Perfect Endings).. well, I will check her Multiply shop one of these days.. In the mean time, let me show you what I got from the P 1000 eGC that Multiply gave each of us...

They came from two separate sellers, and in both shops I enjoyed the free shipping offer..  Also, because I was so inspired by the new face of Multiply.Com, I may open my shop in the succeeding days. I am yet thinking of what to sell.. So watch for it! Will blog about it here.

Simple---

>> Friday, July 20, 2012

I bought my daughter's first musical instrument the other day. I so love the fact that she was so happy and excited to try it out. In the next few weeks, we shall have weekends of music lessons for her and less of the beach. She also told me that she wants to learn to play the piano and the harmonica. Well, anything that she desires, for as long as I am able to support her, then go. I wouldn't even mind if she says she will play Stagg cymbals or the clarinet. Anything that she wishes for as long as she makes good in what she wants to do.  As simple as that..

High Blood Nights...

Last night was one of those nights where we get to sample something that we tried to recreate in our kitchen.  For dinner, we had homemade Crispy Pata and home made Chicharon.

The chicharon was actually made from boiled hard fat that was then deep fried in hot oil. It was seasoned of course.

The Crispy Pata was cooked in the same principle as the Chicharon, only it's bigger and needed more spices. It should be boiled to make sure that the pork leg/knuckles will not have blood while it will be deep fried.

After the boiling process, it was cooked for twenty minutes in a pressure cooker, to make the meet soft and chewy. Then the deep frying process to make the skin and meat crispy on the outside.

Crispy Pata tasted like fried lechon and the chicharon was simply crunchy. These two are the worst nightmare of  some people. But for us, for as long as they were eaten in moderation, then we're okay..

Nurse Stuff in the Kitchen

>> Wednesday, July 11, 2012

I have heard of people living double lives, or people working with many varied careers to make things meet. But I haven't heard of a nurse work during her day-off. So what's a nurse doing with some of her Nursing stuff at a kitchen? Well the nurse is also a cook, at their own food place, so it's really not a big deal. But how it started is really kind of scary. The nurse's husband had a bad night once, and he was almost rushed to the hospital, but that time, the nurse was there to save him. From then on, the nurse would always go there after her shift.

Cake Boss & Candy Queen

>> Monday, July 9, 2012

One of the most watched show at TLC at home are Cake Boss and Candy Queen. It's not just the adults who are watching, but the kids too. Well, it's actually the kids who request to watch them as they are always amazed at what they see. Imagine a race track, dean guitars, or even a huge stage full of everything there is to see that is reflective of the personality of the celebrant. Lili loved that really expensive cake, with all the real jewelries used as decor. Candy Quee was the most amazing of all as they go higher, and more animated with their designs. Lili loved the Alice in Wonderland design, and even wished that someone nearby can create an animated cake or candy. Whew.. I am sure that will be very expensive...

Snack Time: Skewered Caramelized Sweet Potato (Kamote Cue)

We've been craving for Kamote Cue or Skewered Caramelized Sweet Potato for days, but we always miss the newly cooked ones that's why we do not buy. This afternoon, my sister was able to buy freshly cooked Kamote Cue..

So yummy, especially with a glass of  ice cold coke.

Water and Dining

I love water. I love food. I think it will be a great idea to install wall fountains at the dining area of the house. I think it will be a soothing experience to eat and hear the water as it trickles through the wall fountain. But of course, it would be even greater if it's a wall fountain out-doors, and a dining table also holds the family together. Then it would be like a picnic place just inside the home. Cooling effect of the water will cater to a joyous and refreshing dining atmosphere.

But then if that is not possible, a trip to the beach or a waterfall would be nice. And having meals there wouldn't disappoint any unsuspecting diner. Ah.. I am imagining Villa Escudero now...

Serendipity: Pancho Crinkle Sandwich

>> Sunday, July 8, 2012

Bought a variety of breads and cookies from New Leaf today. I love the fact that their breads are all good, specially the fresh ones. I also love the cookies that looked like knurled knobs that Lili loves so much. Then there the Crinkles that my daughter drools for every time. Imagine, she can actually eat 2 in a sitting.

Anyway, part of my loot was a bag of Pancho that was just fresh from the oven. When we arrived home this afternoon, we had snacks and well, I do not know what possessed me, but I somehow pulled the Pancho apart, placed a crinkle in between and ate it like a Pancho-Crinkle Sandwich.

I swear, it was good.

Chefy's Food Creations...

>> Wednesday, July 4, 2012

As promised, I am posting here the creations of our soon to be Chef cousin.. starting with the Spaghetti Carbonara

Then this appetizer that I forgot the name of.. hahahaha.  All I know is that, it was good.. It had this tangy, pimiento goodness, that's cheesy and just right for the crisp baguettes..

Another appetizer prepared was this Sweet Spicy Mushroom on the crispy Baguettes.. I also forgot the name of this dish, hehehehe

Then the salad where she used two kinds of Romaine lettuce, and some cubed ripe mangoes, with Caesar salad dressing and   Balsamic vinegar.. It was a glorious refreshing experience.

Then there was the Pork Cordon Bleu that got all of us busy, assisting our cheffy, hehehe.. Some were baked, some were fried..

Then plating....

And of course, eating...

See the cheese as it oozed out of the pork.. Yum! Of course, we had it paired with mashed potatoes.. A heavenly concoction..

Then the next day, she baked Banana Bread..

And Carrot Cake..

All I can say is YUM! Thanks Chef Kyna, till next time..
