No House Help, So Let it Be?

>> Wednesday, September 28, 2011

It's been two weeks of not having a house helper. My sister and I take turns doing everything in between our busied schedules. We just have to make time, or else. Times like this, I keep wishing House cleaning Clifton is just around the corner that I can get someone to come over and help us. My sister wakes up earlier than her usual schedule so she can wash some clothes and I cook, at the same time prepare for my daughter's needs before going to school. My goodness! We have been losing sleep, as we sleep late for our tasks to be finished.

Then my daughter, over the weekend volunteered to help out by fixing her toys, and folding some of the newly washed and dried clothes.  In her simple way, she has contributed to help out. What a fine girl! So to reward her for good behavior, I gave her her prize.

Asked for Fries, and Fries she got.. Now, our motto: No House Help, So Let it Be! We can manage after all.

What's Cooking?

>> Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Gosh! I almost forgot about my meme. Hehehe.. From My Kitchen had not been running for a week now. Well, maybe it should stop altogether, then maybe I will revive it again someday.. There are many reasons, and I would perhaps go into calendar printing, should I enumerate them, lol.. Kidding aside, I would very much run the meme weekly but I feel it is funny because only a few people would participate in it. Then it hit me. Even I was not able to do it for reasons that I was busy myself, and had not done any cooking for a week. So this morning, as I was frying Lumpia and cooking Omelet, I laughed at myself, as I remembered FROM MY KITCHEN. So this post was done.. hehehe

So here is what I have prepared today. Omelet for breakfast..

This is actually a simple dish that is composed only of eggs and meatloaf. Mashed the meatloaf and blended it with 3 eggs. Fried it to golden perfection, and voila! Yummy Omelet. The next dish is prepacked Lumpia that I fried for snacks, and perhaps part of lunch later on.

My aunt gave us this Lumpia to try. If we like it then we can order for P 120 a pack. But of course, we can always make our own. I love the taste of the Lumpia though. It has veges and meat and the flavor is just right for everyone's taste buds.. At least to the three of us..

So what have you FROM YOUR KITCHEN?

Needless to Say..

>> Sunday, September 25, 2011

I found this really hilarious. We were buying food from one of the carenderias near where we live and the cook, who was putting his platter of food at the counter for display was wearing a shirt that looked like this photo:
Although there was some kind of difference, like the knife was a butcher's knife instead of the one in photo. I actually saw that image online. Anyway, back to the cook with the shirt. My sister and I were laughing because it was more like a statement to tell their patrons that he indeed can cook. Needless to say, their food at this carenderia is good. Everything is good and cheaper that all other food places. I wonder if the milk lady selling gallons and half gallon milk will also wear got milk t-shirts while peddling.. hahaha.. At least by then she doesn't have to bark about what she is selling.. hehehe..

Tried to Topple the KFC Tower Burger

I just realized that I have not updated this blog for a week now. Whew. I have been busy and well, I didn't have the inspiration. Perhaps it has something to do with my appetite? Hahaha.. I do not think so. Lili and I had just tried to topple the Tower Burger at KFC, and we were not successful.

Although, the KFC Tower Burger is really NOT that big, but it is quite heavy. Oh boy! a hefty amount of discount appetite suppressants may just help you resist? I dunno!

Lili and I went there last Saturday, and we had the KFC Tower Burger Fully Loaded complete with the KFC Tower Burger, a piece of Chicken and fries and a drink plus Lili's all time favorite KFC Snack Box plus drink for lunch. Since there was chicken we added extra rice to the order plus a piece of brownie. I didn't think that Lili's snack box is enough, so I had to let her eat some rice with the chicken.

Of course, we had to share everything as the whole order was huge.. Anyway, we only managed to finish the rice and the chicken plus the fries and one drink. Half of the snack box too. The KFC Tower Burger as well as the brownie were untouched.
So we took them home. My daughter finished her snackbox and drink during afternoon snack time, and the KFC Tower Burger? Well, we ate it at dinner. Hahaha.. I should have known it was to last that long.. But then, we were not able to finish it even.. We were left with half the portion for later that evening..

Tried to Topple the KFC Tower Burger, but there were so many hindrances. Perhaps if we didn't order anything else, then we would have finished it right there and then.. But really, just half of the KFC Tower Burger is quite heavy already, it will last you for quite a long time without feeling hungry..

Oh, and this is not a paid post. I paid for this at KFC LimKetKai..

Enjoy your Sunday everyone..

Not a Good Cook..

>> Thursday, September 15, 2011

Someone cooked this really delicious pan fried milkfish.. Just right on the taste. But not with presentation, I guess..
Well, I am no critic. But I do know a great possibility when its window is right before me. Cosmetology school is one of her dreams, but her parents didn't want her to go through that as they feel she has more talent and skill than just make someone else look pretty. Well, I think they are wrong. She is a child with so much skill and talent, but would have benefited more if she was given the opportunity. They should have sent her to Regency Beauty Institute, if they really want what's best for her.. Imagine a girl who graduated with high honors in all levels of her education ended up as a cook. Yes she likes to cook too, but her heart is not in it..

Maybe if she was enrolled at Regency Beauty Institute, she would have been all over the US on runway shows, or maybe owns her own salon-- ah.. the possibilities are endless for graduates a beauty institute.. they were after all trained so well, the world wants them even before graduation..

Life is Like HUMBA!

Life is hard. For many people. But for me, it is not. I say, Life is Challenging.. That is a fact. If I say hard, it means, I am not doing anything to fight the many ups and downs. If I say Life is hard, it means, it is not fun at all, and it is not at all worth living.. Perhaps I am just optimistic about it, regardless of what experiences I go through in life. It is NOT hard, rather, a series of events that make us better persons in the end. That is my food for thought.. It just like signing for life insurance guaranteed issue in five years.
But hey you guys, I have a foodie definition of life.. Life is Like HUMBA!

To some people it is not good because of the fat, and the cholesterol simply overwhelms them. To some, no matter how shaky the meat, or the fat for that matter, it is good. While to others, it depends on what part of the pig you chose to make HUMBA with.. After all, everything is a choice, right? If you choose well, then you will get perfect results regardless of the experience, good or bad..

Pork Chop Humba: Not the typical pork cut for HUMBA, but it truly makes the dish more exciting.. Well, according to me anyway..
Typical Humba cut is that which is the same as the Pork Adobo cut. But for me, the best HUMBA is actually that of pork leg.. Again, it's just me. You can have your own ideas on this food.

So you see their semblance? Life and Humba? I am sure you do now.. hehehe

The Kid Can Cook

>> Sunday, September 11, 2011

Our new house-help is eighteen years old but is still in 1st year high school. But it is just okay for as long as she is interested to finish school. She was actually recommended by my cousin's house help and I find her a complete opposite of Manang. Well, for one, Manang can not do anything except do the laundry, talk and talk and talk.. hahaha.. Yeah, she can do errands and perhaps send and fetch Lili to and from school, but not as often as doing laundry. But this new girl, she can do Manang's four day laundry in just two. And she is fast. She comes on time, and leaves before 11 A.M. with all her tasks done. Best thing is, she can cook. But then, around our turf, we do the cooking-- no need for her to do so. But just in case, she can actually feed us decent meals. With this, I am happy. It's like applying  Aquatell.com water softener to hard water so as not to dry skin and hair. hahaha, sorry for the comparison, but it is true. Thank God Manang is now replaced by someone responsible enough to do her tasks and to have determination to see through her goals in life.
