P 60 Savings on 5 Kilos Rice

>> Saturday, July 30, 2011

When we moved in, we had no rice but the kilo I bought from Melissa's Store, so that same day we went to Robinson's to buy groceries for our new house. We decided to buy the 5-kilo Rice pack since it was okay to carry with less burden, being that it is just me and my sister who is going to carry everything.

That's the 5-Kilo Rice we bought at Robinson's at P 266. Then the other day, we went to buy a few more necessities at Save More in Capistrano, and my SM Advantage card warrants that if I buy a 5-Kilo SM Bonus Sinandomeng Rice, I get 20 points extra, so we decided to get another pack. Anyway, our pack of rice at home has already been half used.
Much to my surprise, I was able to save P 60 from the price of the one I bought earlier this week. Now we have yet to compare and see the difference in terms of quality and taste. If we find that they are the same, being that both packs are Sinandomeng Rice, then we shall continue to buy the latter and continue to save P 60 thereafter..

Seeking More...

>> Friday, July 29, 2011

Over lunch yesterday, a friend of ours came by and visited our new loft. So we had for ourselves an instant lunch guest. A new plate added, and another makeshift chair was improvised. Of course, it was an added fun for us at home. We talked about lots of things including the newest trend in applying for work online. I can't imagine how it would be to have an interview via conference call. Much more so, I wonder how much each conference call price is.. I think people will always do anything of they are willing to get the job they are seeking for. Be it for greener pastures or for any other reason.

Oh, guess what we had for lunch... Clue: It is not good for people with joint problems, as well as arthritis.. Hmm.. If you can not give me the answer, then lemme just show it to you...

As for me, I am seeking more ways to cook Mung Beans..

First Dinner at our New Place

>> Wednesday, July 27, 2011

I have been busy lately and I am now okay. We have finally moved to our new place. It's peaceful and quiet here so I guess I can have more time to think, and finish tasks online. No more tension, no more unnecessary stresses. The last batch of things we have transported yesterday and we had our first meal last night, dinner at our new place... We went to Robinson's for some groceries and bought already cooked viands at Anon's to save us time. We also met with Margaret Ang Salcedo for a box of her home made cupcakes.. I ordered assorted, so I got to taste all her finest offerings..

So for dinner last night, we had Anon's Lechon Paksiw and Kilawin, and Margaret Ang Salcedo's assorted cupcakes for dessert.. Yummy..

FLAVORS: Choco Wacky Cupcakes (choco cupcake w/ creamcheese filling), Chocolate Cupcakes w/ creamcheese frosting, Red Velvet Cupcakes w/ creamcheese frosting, Peanut Butter Cups w/ creamy peanut frosting, White Cupcakes w/ choco fudge frosting, Banana Choco Cupcakes w/ yellow tinted banana frosting.. 2 pieces each flavor.

The Lady at Anon's gave us a huge portion for the Lechon Paksiw we ordered.. And the Kilawin was clean and truly marvelous..  For P 90 per serving, each of the viands from Anon's are definitely worth the price..
We have not fully arranged the things we have, so we kinda ate using the small table with small chairs, and used Tupperware instead of bowls for serving dishes because we practically have all of our items in plastic and boxes yet.. In a few days, we shall be okay with arrangements and all...

Burger Sandwiches

>> Friday, July 22, 2011

I am so sorry I missed the post this week.. Anyhow, I am posting this as mid last minute and advanced for next week.. We are going to move and I may not be online to post entry for next week.. The linky will be up for two weeks, starting Monday this week till Saturday next week..

Inspired by the Minute Burger experience that we had, I tried to make our own at home.. But since we didn't have buns, I used the regular tasty sliced bread.. No flat griddle, so I used the handy dandy carajay, lol..
I was careful not to burn them..
Of course, in a separate carajay, I also fried the patties..Recipe for the patties is our Bola-bola recipe, only cooked flat..
Then assembled the sandwich... I could have added the cucumbers and lettuce but we made a salad during lunch and they were gone..
So sweet ketchup and mayo did the trick..

Sweetheart

Do you have any childhood treats that you enjoy until today? Well, here's one for me and my sister, SweeTeachRN..
My sister and I have fond memories of this treat because this was what we usually bought back when we were kids at the nearby bakery in Kalye Biak na Bato or Montalvan Velez St.. And even when we transferred residences, we still bought this treat.. Until one day, we were not able to do so..
Occasionally, we would find this in some bakeshops, but not all of them have this.. some also have this but the taste is funny.. Then the other day, at Save More, we found this packed and ready to go.. So we bought two.. hehehe

Be Careful What You Eat..

>> Thursday, July 21, 2011

We should all be careful what we eat.. A friend of mine talked about a neighbor of hers who was rushed to the hospital at midnight for complaints of a severe stomach ache.. Since this neighbor is living alone, the people at their compound have become his family who he calls on whenever there are emergencies, and so armed with his Medicare plan card, he was rushed to the hospital and of course got confined thereat.. It had been noted that he ate stale fruits and vegetables from one of the vegetable and fruits bar in one of the city's grocers.. He said that he didn't mind the taste because he thought it was okay, though weird.. When he got home for dinner, he felt cramps and so he only ate soup.. At nine, he started going to the bathroom for lose bowel movement, and at midnight, an intolerable pain at his stomach.. So to the hospital they went, via the Ambulance that was called to get him..

Hearing that, I couldn't help but wonder why such a smart fellow would eat stale fruits and vegetables.. Hmm.. Is he a miser too?

Lighting and Steak

>> Tuesday, July 19, 2011

My sister and I went with my cousin and aunts one fine Sunday for a house tripping.. We went to three subdivisions and looked into their model houses. We saw one that is quite posh. The exterior light fixtures are brilliantly lit so as to welcome us right to each abode.. I was told by the broker that they use led lighting fixturesat that posh village. But then, for the interiors of the house, should the homeowner choose not to do so, they can actually replace it with other lighting fixtures, or with discount ceiling fans, should they prefer lamp shades at each corner tables..
Marinated Steak

I could almost laugh at the extreme examples cited but then I thought there is more reality to it. Each of us can still have a posh looking home, in a posh subdivision, yet being frugal about it.. Know what I mean? It's like eating steak.. If you eat at a very expensive restaurant, of course it gets pricey. But if you cook it at home, it is less in cost, more on flavor-- provided of course you know how to make the great steak that is sold at the expensive restaurant.. You know what I mean? hehehe

Snack Time at Del Monte Golf Club – Bukidnon, Philippines

>> Saturday, July 16, 2011

My sister and I went to the church at Cawayanon.. and after our church visit, we got hungry.. Snack time was enjoyed just across the street.. Well, actually, we had to move further inside the Clubhouse of the Del Monte Golf Club in Bukidnon, Philippines.
This sandwich was huge--- HUGE in size, and HUGE in taste.. Well worth the short walk.. and the price of P 290...
This is a three decked sandwich which actually comprises three separate sandwiches, namely, Egg and Bacon Sandwich, Ham Sandwich and the Roast Beef Sandwich, which you can actually order one at a time.. The thick meat were sandwiched in the freshly baked bread that was so flavorful, you can actually eat on its own.. That was quite a heavy snack already.. Good thing we chose to share the sandwich..
We also tried their fries.. Greasy and thick, just like how we cook them at home, lol.. Use Del Monte Ketchup and you will forget that they were greasy and P 70 will be wasted if you do not eat them, lol.. And to quench your thirst, enjoy bottomless Pineapple Juice for only P 20 a glass..
Paid P 407.00 for the meal that had us burping Roast beef even at dinner time.. hahaha.. If we went there during lunch time, I am sure we could be eating something for lunch that I am sure will be heavier than the sandwich(LMAO)..

Food Photos and Printing Services

>> Tuesday, July 12, 2011

I have kept so many food images and photos in Presentation Folders that I am hoping to include among the photos that I will have for Printing Service.. If I get lucky, and open my own printing business, I will have all food images included in Vinyl Banners as well as business fliers.. Just thinking about these makes me excited already.. That is the reason why I take pictures. Not only for my blogs, but also for future reference.. We can never really say that the photos I took will not have any significance in my life. Perhaps, they can be used for other alternatives. I could make post cards out of them too. Or even include cards for any occasion.
I can actually do so many things with all my photos and as long as they are given rightful reference and acknowledgement, others can use them too.. I am not selfish, but as much as I want to share them, I would love to know who has used them and a link back is much appreciated.. It somehow feels really bad when your photo was used and "owned" by another who you know have only used them.. I am sure you know what I mean..

Pixie's Sinugba

>> Saturday, July 9, 2011

On the last day of DFAT 2011, we had lunch at Pixie's Sinugba, right after the trip from the Tibolo Village.. Below were the food they served..
The lemon fried chicken was really tasty..
Their liempo was nice. It had a crunch to every bite, plus it is mostly solid pork and not pork fat..
The Chicken Curry was good too..
But the main attraction is their Sinugbang Bangus (Broiled Milk fish).. I love the belly that is so yummy!
The Humba you see above is not yet out in their regular menu.. It is good too. Solid pork, less fat..
When we went there, there were just a few of us. Mostly participants from DFAT2011, who got busy even during the lunch session with tablets pcs and doing online reservations for Airphil, as there was an on going seat sale that everyone didn't want to miss.. Needless to say, we simply enjoyed food and their free WiFi too.

Now, if you are drooling and wish to sample their food, you can go ahead and drop by:

Snacks

By now, all of our kids have their school things in order. No more books to buy, no more notebooks to gather, no more personalized backpacks or strollers to choose, no more erasers, crayons, pencils and pens to sort out.. Well, maybe in the next quarter, but for now, everything may just be smooth sailing for us moms...

What I usually worry about is their snacks in between classes and at home. Whether they are eating what was placed in their snack bags, or not.. So I am constantly in search for new ideas and new treats.. There's always a sandwich, but sometimes, it gets really boring, kids no longer wish to eat them.. So I ask them what they like from time to time.. and most times, we come up with a compromise.. A sandwich plus cookies, if not, we prepare something else that they should be able to finish..

we'd buy donuts

or pack some treats that we have prepare at home
