PR 3 is Back!

>> Wednesday, June 29, 2011

I am so happy that finally, this blog, MORE FOOD ADVENTURES, is now back with PR 3.. I do not need any of the best laptop computers to clearly see the new PR given by Google, it's clear as SPRITE! Refreshingly good! Yippee.. Yesterday was indeed a very happy occasion.. Lucky day because it was my little girl's birthday.. Apart from PR 3 returning on this blog, my other blogs have also been given their PR back.. And the new ones? Well, they got PR 1 and 2 now.. I think all of my blogs have PR already--- except the recent ones that I have just bought new domains for.. And of course, those that I have just recently updated after a year of hibernation.. Truly, it's something to look forward to, your blog getting a higher PR than it's usual.. And for those who have lost PRs, it's not a bad thing actually.. It will soon come back---

By the way, for those who have not joined my on going meme, it is still open.. Click on the badge below to join..

This week's entry:

Rambutan.. Is this the Bisaya term or its real name? Anyhow, this is my entry for this week.. Sweet and juicy Rambutan during summer is truly a refreshing experience.. In Singapore, their Rambutan is smaller and juicier..

FROM MY KITCHEN: What's Your Favorite Gadget/Tool to Use?

This week, to know more about the people preparing the food, I would like to know what each and everyone's "Favorite Gadget/Tool to Use"...

My favorite tool is the tandem of the knife and chopping board.. I just love chopping ingredients and stuff with them.. Besides, I think they are both important..

Anyway, here's one of the foodies I will be making today for later--- Lili loves them and it's her birthday today..

How about you? What's your Favorite Gadget/Tool to Use? And what have you prepared from your kitchen?

Simple, yet Heartwarming...

>> Sunday, June 26, 2011

My daughter's birthday always falls within the enrollment "aftershock" season. Meaning, I have less funds for her birthday, unless I have saved up or have incurred payday advance to spend.. But more than what I have always given her during her birthdays, is the smile and the love that she always gives me in return, regardless of how much or how less, I spend for her birthday. I am blessed to have a daughter who is always happy.. I think, even if you do not give her anything, for as long as you greet her on her special day, she will be very happy. She likes the feeling of being remembered.. Such innocent and simple joy..

Last year, she requested that I prepare her favorite Spaghetti and Chicken meal to share with her friends, and she wanted some pink heart balloons..
And yes, we had them, plus cupcakes ordered from both My Cake Store and that from a friend of my friend Hazel Ampong Francisco.. Her classmates liked the cupcakes.. And I'm glad they did.. It was No birthday party (though we gave out loot bags)-- just snacks in school. I didn't want  to disturb their class, plus budget was quite low. Anyway, we had another Pizza, Pasta and Chicken treat at home, and that was it.. But we did celebrate again during the weekend, at the beach.. So she was happy.. and expressively she tells me her feelings every time.  She told me that when she turns seven, she will want a bigger birthday celebration--- a party. And not on her 6th. So I think I am saved because she is yet going to turn six this week, and I have a simple treat for her this year.. Again, NO Party, but she will have something memorable to cherish.. I am sure she will love it even if it is simple..

Taho Business

I love Taho. I love how it tastes and I love how easily it could appease a temporary hunger. Here in our village, we have our very own suki who brings Taho right to our doorstep. And because he is already our main source for the tasty treat, and we buy from him almost everyday, he has also given us plenty of freebies. Well actually, if we buy a cup, he gives us more than a cup's measure as we use our own glasses when he serves them to us.. Everyday, we spend more than a hundred pesos for Taho. So I thought, if we can produce our very own tasty treat, maybe it will be cheaper.

So today, while browsing videos on You Tube, I found what could be the answer to my search. It could also be a new business to put up if we can do so.. I found this really nice video on You Tube where we can make our own home made Taho. I was really very excited because I love Taho. Been enjoying it half my life as an everyday treat now. If I could get payday loans no credit check, I guess I will even find a way to make a business out of what I have seen in the video. It's one that I have found in You Tube and it shows us how to make our own home made Taho. I am sure all Taho Lovers out there will be excited as well. See the video and tell me what you think.

It's really amazing how technology can give us all the necessary information we need.  And to think that the information in the video is FREE.. Hmm.. I think we should test it first at home before thinking of making a business out of it.  Anyway, if we can make our own Taho, that's already a great savings for us on a monthly scale..

Happy Father's Day, Tatay!

>> Sunday, June 19, 2011

I am sure by now, the topics for custom essay papers would be about Fathers and Father's Day. and even if students and professionals would find writing help online, there would be lots about people's relationship with their dads, or how fathers are important. Of course, today is father's day. In one of my friend's tips on essay writing, especially those written for online use, topics must be trending. And when we talk about trending topics, it must be relevant to the times, it must be according to what people are celebrating, or what is on the news. Surely, that will get one's work to visited. That is also the same if one has a blog. Trending topics---

Anyway, since I am greeting my father here in my food blog, I am also acknowledging the fact that he is a very good cook. Although he does not really cook often, but when he does, all of us would love to finish everything he has prepared.

My father's specialty includes HUMBA, PAKSIW-Mackerel Style, SIKI, and the failed comparison to my Lola Viating's Pastillas, which are, nevertheless good too. They may not taste the same as Lola Viating's Pastillas, but my father's ingenuity has created for us, another way of enjoying Pastillas. In fact, they are more fun to eat.. But because it is too tasking to be making Pastillas, he has not made some for a couple of years already..

If I am to write about my father and father's day, I will write about his fondness to cook the food I mentioned above. And we are having two of them for lunch cooked by Tatay himself..

Happy Father's Day, Tatay! We love you...

Toque Ceremony of Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro

>> Saturday, June 18, 2011

The Culinary Institute of Cagayan de Oro, the first culinary School in Northern Mindanao, has just had their 7th Toque Ceremony last June 4, 2011. It's kinda similar to the capping/badging ceremonies that nursing students have. The toque, by the way, is the tall brimless hat worn by a chef.. And because these students are soon to be chefs, the toque ceremony paves way for them to feel that they are indeed gonna be chefs...
Photo borrowed from  CIC FB page
I wonder if there is an accredited online university where we can enroll in Culinary Studies.. I have always been interested in Culinary Arts, but I do not have time just yet..But if ever I can do it online through an accredited online university, then perhaps I will enroll..

NO Sharp Objects

>> Wednesday, June 15, 2011

I have read this article about life in prison, where people, food and all others have to be checked with metal detectors for unwanted sharp objects and weapons. According to authorities, it helps to be very careful as inmates are not allowed to get hold of sharp objects. There were already too many instances in the past, where knives and even picks were placed hidden in a visitor's food that is brought intently for the inmate. In times where rumbles and gang fights happen, it is safer to NOT have any sharp object lying around that may cause people death upon themselves and others.

So this information made me think that there are no spoons and forks in prison. Forks and knives can be made deadly when reinvented to become a lethal weapon. Perhaps they only use plastic. Well, I have not been inside a prison facility to know these things.

Wrestle Mania Fever & Food

I am a wrestling fan, but I find it rather odd that food be endorsed by wrestling champions. I mean, what's the catch? It doesn't even connect. If it were beer or some other stuff, maybe I would think it is okay. Anyway, I do not necessarily buy food just because it is endorsed by a star or an athlete or a politician. NO! First, I taste the food. If I like it, then I would buy more. If I super love it, I would definitely recommend it to friends, and blog about it..

Sometimes, marketing and media just made the food as well as its packaging look funny because of the endorser. It's like making a joke out of a serious matter..

When Choosing A Wedding or Function Venue

>> Thursday, June 9, 2011

Years ago, I used to organize events and functions related to my work. I guess it's because I have had the experience that my immediate bosses trusted me with such responsibility. So whenever we have functions, I usually gather information as to the age group and the activities that we are supposed to do parallel to the event. After all, some activities could not be done should the venue limit us to do so. But then of course, I always see to it that we have the best food served so all of the participants and attendees will all be gastronomically fulfilled. In organizing weddings, I think that is also a challenge for the wedding organizer. That is why most wedding receptions are held in hotels and some restaurants that allow for varied activities within the program. But if I am to organize a wedding, I would look into both the space and the food to be served. After all, what's a space if the food will be infamously remembered.

A friend of mine, who now lives in Australia, recommends the master builders club in most queries. Functions for events as well as weddings. Participants can satisfy craving at storage Northern Beaches and of course, couples can choose a variety of wedding venues Northern Beaches.. Of course, here in the Philippines, she would recommend her sister in law, the wedding and events planner to do the job, lol..

While some couples prepare the costly event of their lives, some can actually get everything at a minimal expense. And that is when they have all important details covered at an earlier time. Weddings and events need ample time for preparation, because plans could change anytime. Some uncontrolled events may happen, and a back up plan must be at hand. When choosing a wedding or function venue, one must not stick to just one choice. There must be an alternative, regardless of what has been agreed upon. Fires and all other natural events may happen-- we will never know.

Tiny Kitchen - Davao City

>> Wednesday, June 8, 2011

I have been raving about the food served by Tiny Kitchen in Davao City in all my other blogs. I have even mentioned how good the Paella Negra was in this blog.. But I have not really given time to blog about the place itself. Why? Hmm.. Maybe because I am lost for words. maybe because their food tastes so good, all I can tell you my dear readers is get yourselves packed up and go to Davao City and try out the food at Tiny Kitchen.

See their menu and be served by the little angel at the cafe, daughter of the Rodriguez's..Vince and Donna.. That dessert she is holding is to die for..
The family is actually hands on in their business and they talk to their patrons and care for them like family.. Just like how they did with us participants of DFAT 2011.. That is why, after being full, it was still fun to be posing and taking photos with them..
Quite frankly, I could not pin point what food I liked best at Tiny Kitchen, for they are all so good. I swear. Even if we were impossible to fit in a very small space, still we had fun and we had the best eats---

Among the desserts, I think I like the Mango Sans Rival best.. The photo above is just a few of the desserts we tried.. There's also the Red Velvet Cake, as well as the Major Major Chocolate Cake, but since I am more of a Sans Rival person, the Mango Sans Rival it is..
I also like these gooey chewy treats.. And among the Paella served, this Paella Valencia is the best.. Of course, I already mentioned Paella Negra earlier..

The pasta i like best would be the Catalonia Penne Pasta..

Here's my share for this week:

That's Tinolang "shells".. I dunno what they are called in the dialect, but they are fresh shells sold by a lady and all you have to do to cook them is wash them properly, add them in boiling water with leeks, peppers, onions and lemon grass..  Add salt to taste..

You may add your links below. Let me know what's cooking in your kitchen..
