Reunion

The table looked so inviting. All of my favorites were there. But I ate only the seafoods. Why? I had some issues with pork the day before the reunion. So, Lechon, BBQ and all other pork dishes, I didn't eat. It was mostly the Crabs, the Shrimps, the Baby Lobsters and the Kinilaw.. There was also some Sushi, and of course some Sashimi with Wasabi.. yum..

It was a great bonding time as the Ergina-Aguilar siblings were together again.. Complete from eldest to youngest, and of course, their cousins, our uncles and aunts from Passi Ilo-ilo.. Glad that the Aguilars from UK, Finland and Passi, Ilo-ilo have bonded well with us Aguilars here in CDOC. After all, we are but a family---

Wanna Learn How To Cook or Bake?

>> Saturday, July 24, 2010

Let's see. If you have money and would like to learn cooking or baking, you can always go to Cooking or Baking Schools, or consult with the experts.  To name a few, you have Chef Ed Dychauco of Pots and Pans,  Nikon, Merry Maid, Monster Kitchen or enroll yourself at a Culinary School outside Cagayan de Oro, or take up HRM at Lourdes College. But if you do not have the budget, but have the desire to learn there's always TESDA and Alternative Learning Systems of the Department of Education.

Learning to cook or bake is fun, and it always pays a good deal of results which can help boast your confidence in cooking or baking. But if you have no time to go to the places and institutions that I have mentioned, there is always the Food Network to watch and follow..

Before deciding to enroll, make sure that you really are interested, otherwise it will defeat the purpose of enrollment..

When in MOGCHS

The canteen in MOGCHS is known for its cheap and filling snacks. When students go hungry, for a mere ten (P 10.00), they can already  take a snack. They can have a delicious shake and toasted bread. I have tasted the two and they are fine. Food servers and tenants at MOGCHS know it for a fact that most students can not afford to buy goodies so they have made alterations and alternatives. Take this vendor for example.

She shells shakes at P 3, P 5 and P 10, depending on the size of the cup. Her foodies include a cheap pizza, that is already tasty at P 10. She has sandwiches and her latest is this Ham and Cheese Sandwich sold at P 10.00, which is actually called as "Burger" by the students.
A little cheese, a little ham and lots of mayo. Some students prefer ketchup with it. Add a P 5 or P 10 shake and you're good to go..

It's really not a bad idea to scrimp on some ingredients if only to allow students to have a filling snack that they can afford. Aside from these examples, there are also other goodies that students may be thankful for. Viands at P 3, P 5 P 10 and P 15 which of course will vary to the dish. Drinks and all others considered, are also priced accordingly. Another discovery is food luxuries, like flavored popcorn and all others. At MOGCHS canteen, you can buy Cheese flavored or BBQ flavored popcorn for only P 10.. The same quantity as that of the P 35 Cheese Popcorn that you can buy at the malls, except that it is only placed in brown paper with no label whatsoever..

Gold Coins & Cupcakes

>> Friday, July 23, 2010

Today I read that gold coins are big on sale. And at the United States Gold Bureau you can purchase silver and gold or other precious metals and coins at really reasonable prices. The good thing is that you can also buy them for immediate personal delivery or arrange convenient and safe storage at an independent bank or your depository. It's always a good idea to invest in gold or silver, as they do not depreciate in value.

Now, if you are to compare gold coins with food, I'd say they are comparable with cupcakes. Invest on a really delicious cupcake and you will always win praises among your kid's friends.

Just like these cupcakes during Lili's birthday.. Yummy! It's worth more than just a a gold coin..

BiaƱos Pizza

>> Monday, July 19, 2010

After mass yesterday, we went to try out BiaƱo's Pizza. It's just walking distance from church, so we didn't have a hard time finding it...
These were the pizzas we ordered:

Ham and Cheese for Lili and River. And we had Meatlover's Pizza as Sweet chose it. We would have ordered "American" because Lili always requests for Pepperoni whenever we order Pizzas, but it was not available.
With these 2 orders of Medium sized pizzas, we got 2 liters of Coke and Royal True Orange as they have this promo this July that when you dine-in between 11 am to 3pm, every medium sized order gets you a FREE liter of soft-drink.. And guess what? I only paid P 298.00 over all..

hmmm.. P 298? yup, P 298.00 Ham and Cheese is just P 130 while Meatlovers is only P 168. The most expensive pizza is at P 198, "Full House", but Sweet does not like it. Well, maybe NOT YET??? hehehe We'll try it next time. We asked about deliveries and I found out that minimum order is at P 200 only, but for Balulang there is a delivery charge of P 30. Well, it is not that bad actually, considering that the Pizza you will get is yummy! I tell you guys, the crust alone is tasty already, how much more with the toppings.. It's crisp and  thin and tastes creamy. The cheese on every pizza is divine. I think many of you think it is but an ordinary pizza, but hey, you just have to taste it and find out. Sure the place is simple compared to other pizza places, but it's the pizza that counts! Agree? It's an original recipe of Alberto BiaƱo of Oroquieta City. Good thing it is now in Cagayan de Oro..

For more of the menu, CLICK HERE.  See below for its location..

For orders and deliveries, they are located at the 1st floor of Miranda Building, T.Chavez St.  (Near Greenhills - below "d' Same Place"), below is the entrance to the building..

Contact them through Globe: 09161315606, Sun: 09322008021 or local numbers (088) 3092463 and or (088) 8524244.

You just have to taste their pizza to believe all that I am saying is true.. This is NOT a paid post by the way, but I simply liked how nice the people who waited on us were, while we dined-in at BiaƱo's..

Lunch at TNT

>> Friday, July 16, 2010

My sister and I had lunch at TNT a few months back. It was our first time to try their food and  here are the food we tried that day. It was  not crowded. As a matter of fact, we were the only patrons during that time..

The Siomai and their Noodle...
The Choice of Sauces for the noodle..
 We also had the following:
Sisig on Rice

Spicy Adobo Flakes

Another batch of Siomai.. hehehe..

We also had shakes and mineral water. Lunch cost less that P 200 for all the foodies ordered, including the drinks. It was affordable, and the taste was okay.. Eating at TNT is good for budget seekers.. Although, I did not like the fact that attendants were all talking loudly downstairs that patrons can hear their conversations.

Restaurant Menu Descriptions

>> Monday, July 12, 2010

Here's some Restaurant Menu Descriptions that many of you may want to know. Quite frankly, before we even decide to eat outside our home, we must be aware of what food to eat and how they are going to be prepared. If you are on some special diet, knowing these things will help you to avoid what needs to be avoided, in as much as enjoy what you can freely enjoy.. Thanks to Yahoo for sharing.. I am also sharing this here for my readers...

Egg Rolls: Vegetables and meats wrapped in dough and deep-fried in oil

The Visit

>> Friday, July 9, 2010

My cousin came by the house and brought her famous longganisa. I bought 3 packs, which she says is equivalent to a kilo. Another loot she handed me was a red envelope and in it were documents that made me smile.. She then told me to sit while she explains about her company and needless to say, compare life insurance with other companies..

It was a very good discussion and I actually learned a new deal about life insurance.. She'll be back over the weekend for more discussions..

Lovely Windows

>> Thursday, July 8, 2010

Don't you just love the window shown here? I love it very much. It would make a wonderful backdrop for a casual dinner party with close friends and relatives. Penguin Windows really bring out the best in every room and every occasion.

The French window in the playroom also brings about the same effect but because it has already aged and was not properly installed, you could see traces of aging.  I am fond of windows and I love how they are designed and treated to match a house design. It is said that the personality of the people living in a house is best seen in the kind of windows they install. Well, as to our windows, doe sit mean to say we have aged too? lol.. kidding---

I often associate windows with fairy tales and food. That is perhaps lame and crazy to some people but won't you agree that there is a degree of fantasy and dreaminess in every window design? Well, call it crazy but look at how fairy tales were often told. Didn't you notice food and windows go together in every scene? Ask little Red Riding Hood or Cinderella or even Sleeping Beauty.. well??? What do you think?

Pastel de Pots

>> Sunday, July 4, 2010

A friend of mine from the US came home and asked for Pastel de Pots. Hmm.. You must think that Pastel here in Cagayan de Oro City is just Vjandep. Well, we are blessed here with two, actually three, but one is simply home based and not sold for commercial purposes.
Pastel de Pots is Pots and Pans pride, and soon perhaps, Cagayan de Oro City's as well,  just as the other two are Camiguin's pride... soon, it may compete in the market as people continue to seek and try it. Well, I have tried it and it's actually very good.

I saw this pastel and learned about Pastel de Pots a few weeks ago, at Chef Ed Dychauco's FB and when I  asked him to be featured in this food blog as one of Cagayan de Oro City's foodies, he invited me at his shop, Pots and Pans.  I am sure you know him and perhaps, you may have also seen him on television or in the malls doing cooking demos or judging food related contests. He is actually one of  the Philippines'  celebrity Chefs, and proudly, he is a Kagay-anon.
So while there, I bought a box and even got to sample Chef Ed's freshly baked Cream Puff and a piece of  Pastel.  I must tell you, the bread and the filling is to die for. Sweet, but not too sweet filling on a very soft bread.. Olala.. Quite frankly, I did not expect that Pastel de Pots, being new in the market, already has developed a following.. My friend Eliza told me that they were able to get hold of a box the last time her brother came home, and brought some back to the US. Apart from the not so sweet filling that most diet conscious Pastel eaters would love, the bun remains fresh even after a few days. Mind you, Chef Ed told me, there is no preservatives used. It's all natural.. And you can actually taste its freshness..
For just P 120 you will get 12 huge  Pastel buns inside the sturdy box.. My friend Eliza likes the durable box for long travels, delicious food inside it remains fresh--

Anyway, if you wish to order or buy some Pastel de Pots, see the contact details on the image of the box above..
